UGA Hosting Five Mobile Flu Shot Clinics Around Campus

UGA University Health Center

UGA students, faculty and staff will have five opportunities around campus starting this week, and going through October, to get their flu shots.

The mobile flu shot clinics will be staffed by UGA College of Pharmacy students. Costs for the flu shots given at the mobile clinic are covered by most insurance plans. Uninsured patients do have the option to pay $45 out of pocket to get their shot at the mobile clinic.

Locations around campus where the mobile clinics will be stationed include Myers Hall, Aderhold Hall in the College of Education, the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, the College of Pharmacy and Dawgtoberfest.

Kristine Groft, senior communications coordinator with the UGA University Health Center, says the flu should be taken seriously.

"The health department encourages flu shot vaccinations. We also encourage this, especially with close living quarters with students," said Groft. "But most importantly, the flu is also in certain groups of individuals that have maybe allergies or have had suffering from asthma, etc. Those folks are in more danger if they do attract the flu."

However, if you’re not a member of the UGA community, Groft said you still have options.

"They can actually get a flu shot at most pharmacies currently, but also at the health department," she said.
