Severe Weather Possible in North Georgia Thursday Night

20 February 2014

A week after Georgia’s second winter storm, the National Weather service is predicting thunderstorms and possible flooding.

Forecasters even say there is a possibility for isolated tornadoes. The storms will be possible Thursday night into Friday morning and will mainly occur north of a line from LaGrange to Atlanta to Gainesville. The storms come with a front that will drop high temperatures from the 70s on Thursday to the 50s on Friday.

There is also the possibility of flooding on the Altamaha River in southeast Georgia, as it is expected to rise to more than a foot above flood stage by Thursday evening. This could cause minor flooding in parts of Baxley, say forecasters.
