Mural Commemorating AthFest 20th Anniversary Installation

10 June 2016

A massive, new mural commemorating the 20th anniversary of the AthFest Music and Arts Festival is being installed on Washington Street Saturday morning.

Artist David Hale, the Lyndon House Arts Center, and the owners of Philanthropy are partners in the project, which was funded with grant money from AthFest Educates.
Didi Dunphy, Program supervisor at Lyndon House Arts Center.

“David hale has been our Artist in Resident and he has been working for a number of months building components of the mural in our studios,” according to Dunphy. “The Art Center has these fantastic studios and he has been taking up residency there with four of his teen assistants, building components. They’re on this fantastic sign material and we will be carting them to the site Saturday morning and installing those and then the artist will be painting designs and other patterned images directly on the wall above and around these components.”

The mural features 20 Georgia songbirds.
