Athens Regional Medical Center 7th best in the State
US News & World Report named Athens Regional the top hospital in northeast Georgia. ARMC, Athens Regional Medical Center, is one of four hospitals outside of the metro Atlanta area that are within the top 10 chosen.
According to Rob Hoyt, the chair of the ARMC board, “this is a tribute to the people who are committed to the mission of this hospital.” In addition, he believes that the doctors, nurses and staff do a great job of providing care for their patients. The medical center has six specialties listed in the report, such a gastroenterology, neurology and urology. An annual survey of physicians considering the best hospital based on their own specialty is also factored into the rankings. Patients have expressed satisfaction and a willingness to recommend the facility to others. The amount of patient satisfaction is 80 percent, which is above the state average of 70 percent. The Athens Regional Health System Board Chair, Marilyn Farmer, is extremely proud of this recognition. “I know firsthand the excellent work that we do in the system, so it is heartwarming to have this external validation,” she says. The rankings for “Best Hospital” are updated every year in July.
