WUGA Artist in Residence Event August 2017

After a month off, we’re resuming WUGA’s Artists in Residence series by featuring two artists: textile designer and screenprinter Sara Parker and her husband Simon Hunt, who is a terrific photographer. She also creates lovely textiles — tea towels and fabrics by the yard — that have been featured in Southern Living, Design Sponge, and Apartment Therapy. Simon is also a musician, filmmaker, recording engineer, and comics artist. He and Sara graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. They work together to create screen prints. Attendees will see their studio during the event at the couple's home on Saturday, August 19th, from 3 to 5. Kate Van Cantfort, the owner of Lotta Mae's Supply Co. and a former director at OCAF, will speak about the couple’s work at 3:30.Friends of WUGA pay $10 to attend, and others pay $15. Attendees must RSVP with Abbie Thaxton at (706) 542-9842 or email thaxtona@uga.edu to reserve a space and learn the address. We are so pleased that Marti’s at Midday provides a bounty of hors d’oeuvres, and Uncommon Gourmet supplies the fine wine.
