Jackson County Receives Insurance Dividend

Jackson County has received a share of a $3.2 million insurance dividend. The Board of Trustees of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia-Ineterlocal Ricks Management Agency declared the amount of $62,955; which is the largest in the organization’s history. According to a Jackson County media release, the funds will be applied in the form a of credit toward customers’ property and liability premium for the 2018-2019 policy year.

Jackson County Cutting Number of Polling Places

The Jackson County Board of Elections has voted to consolidate the county’s current 16 voting precincts down to four. A news release from Jackson County’s Public Information Officer Sloan Meyer states the increase in early voting has brought about the change. It states most voters cast their ballots before Election Day, which decreases the need for so many polling places.

Get Fit Jackson Contest

Jackson county residents are visitors alike are encouraged to snap a selfie as part of a contest by the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Tourism Council. As part of “Get Fit Jackson,” organizers are encouraging people walking one of the county’s 16 walking trails and school tracks to take a photo at the beginning of the trail or at the track and post the photo on the agency’s webpage.

Those who post will be eligible for monthly prizes. The more pictures posted, the more chances to win. The contest runs through October 31st.
