A UGA student will be the TV show “Wheel of Fortune” tonight. 19-year old Jordan Sollie sent in an audition tape for the show in late 2016.

"You know they got me all set up to go. The audition went extremely well. They whittled the contestant pool from about 60 people or so down to about 30," said Sollie. "We played a few mock versions of the game, and from there they said "Alright if you made it we'll let you know in the next few weeks or so. If not, we're sorry, but then tough luck."

He was called back to audition person. he says he didn’t think he made the cut after that audition, but months later he got the call he was hoping for.

"Seven months passed. Obviously, I thought I hadn't made it and kind of gave up on it. February rolls around and I get an email that said, Congratulations you've been selected to participate on "Wheel of Fortune's College Week." So it turns out they were waiting for College Week to roll around in order to send out my contestant invitation," he said.

The would-be screenwriter is not allowed to discuss his performance on the show, but he did say the experience was everything he hoped for.

"You know I grew up on Wheel of Fortune. I feel like it's really rooted in the South. And I don't know it always just brings up good times," said Sollie. "And it's just as fun playing in person as it is playing in your living room."

Sollie’s episode airs on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on NBC affiliate WXIA.
