georgiacenter.uga.edu

The University of Georgia is hosting genealogy classes next week as well as a free family history expo for the community Sunday, July 23. The Family Search Family History and Genealogy Expo takes place Sunday from noon to 5 pm at the Georgia Center. The expo provides an opportunity for attendees and members of the community to explore genealogy resources, ask questions, and meet others interested in family history.

After nearly six decades at Samford College in Birmingham, Alabama, the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research is coming to UGA.

Classes are being held in the evenings in the Georgia Center from 7 to 8:15 pm. Organizers say the sessions are expected to bring more than 270 enthusiasts to Athens for intensive study led by national experts. There is a $15 fee for the sessions. There is no charge for Sunday’s expo. The week-long event wraps up Friday.
