UGA Football Player Arrested on Felony Forgery Charge

Online Athens

A UGA football player was arrested Tuesday on a felony forgery charge.

Online Athens is reporting that yesterday, freshman Latavious Brini, was arrested on a forgery charge from a July incident.

Police allege that Brini used a fake $100 bill for a transaction at a local Pet Supplies Plus store in the Alps Shopping Center in Athens. The store later found that the bill was counterfeit.

After being booked into the Clarke County Jail on Tuesday, Brini was released on a $5,700 bond last night.

Brini has not played this season at UGA, and looks like he will be redshirted for the season.

However, Georgia athletic policy says that athletes must be suspended from competing after a felony arrest. The incident then undergoes review by the athletic department committee.

UGA Athletics has not released any information yet on Brini’s status, as of this story's publication.

This is the third UGA football player that has been arrested since the SEC Championship game on December 2nd.
