The Red Cross is once again reminding the community of the constant need for blood. The agency says there is often a low supply of blood during the summer months because people regular contributors get busy with summer vacations and seasonal activities that keep them from keeping a regular donation schedule. Communications Manager Kristen Stancil says the agency works to make the process as simple as possible.
“There are three easy ways to become a blood donor whether it’s this summer or any time during the year,” Stancil said. “The first thing is to schedule your appointment and you can do that by using the free Red Cross Blood Donor App; you can visit redcrossblood.org; or you can call 1-800-RED CROSS.”
The Red Cross recommends donors get a good night’s sleep the night before, eat a nutritious meal and drink plenty of fluids.
