Clarke County leaders are reminding Athens residents to comment on proposed projects for a 2018 Transportation Special Local Option Sales Tax.
A Citizens Advisory Committee is currently considering 36 projects, with a cost of $256 million. That number has to be whittled down to a list of projects totaling no more than $154.5 million.
Commissioner Melissa Link says it's important for members of the community to get involved.
"There's a long list of projects, we're going to have to whittle them down and cut some funds," according to Link. "There are differing forces with different priorities, so it's important that a broad swath of the community put their two-cents in, because this thing is also going to a referendum and it's going to have to pass public muster."

The Citizens Advisory Committee will recommend a list of projects for adoption for the Mayor and Commission, which will then be voted on by the community.
Projects were submitted on behalf of the airport, transit, leisure services, transportation and public works, as well as citizens and organizations.
