Power Restored to Most Georgians

Jackson EMC

Georgia Power reports there are still several thousand customers without power. The company says more than 960,000 customers have been restored since the peak on Monday. The company is on track to restore power to 95 percent of all customers impacted by Hurricane Irma, who can accept power, by Saturday night - 24 hours ahead of schedule.

Jackson EMC has now restored power to 97 percent of its 222,000 members since tropical Storm Irma swept through the company’s service area Monday. Service has been restored to all but several hundred  members. Jackson EMC received assistance from 31 cooperates and contractors from across the country, including North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, new jersey, and Ohio. Georgia’s Greystone Power and Carroll EMC also assisted in the effort.
