Police Officer Suspended, Arrested on Drug Charges in Raid

Authorities say an Atlanta police officer has been arrested in an apartment where seven pounds of marijuana and prescription pills were found.

News outlets report Officer Iris Rowe was suspended following her arrest in College Park on drug charges. Atlanta police say Rowe will appear before Chief Erika Shields this week, and that she will determine her employment status. Rowe joined the department in 2016.

College Park Police Chief Keith Meadows says officers had a warrant to search the apartment Monday. Police say officers also arrested Jeremy Laye and Tony Robinson on drug charges.
Atlanta police didn't immediately respond to emails asking if Rowe had a lawyer. A spokesman for the prosecutor declined comment.

Police say they found Rowe's uniform, badge and other gear. They also discovered guns and nearly $8,000 in cash.
