Northeast Georgia Businesses Searched by Law Enforcement for Alleged Gaming Machine Payouts

A coalition of law enforcement agencies executed six search warrants in Northeast Georgia at businesses accused of providing cash payouts for gaming machines. 

Businesses in Athens, Carlton, Comer, and Hull were searched.

 

According to a release from theGBI, evidence related to crimes of commercial gambling, money and other assets were collected. The GBI’s Commercial Gambling Unit, along with the Athens-Clarke County Drug Task Force, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and the Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office were involved in the search.

 

They worked in cooperation with the Georgia Lottery Corporation and the Georgia Department of Revenue. Multiple arrests are pending. Other agencies assisting in the search include the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 unit, Comer Police, and the state department of Community Services. More than 50 officers were involved in the simultaneous raids.
