A new food delivery service is coming to Athens, with a promise of 150 new jobs. the restaurant on-demand platform Waitr arrives in Athens, Thursday, June 21. Waitr featured a flat, five-dollar fee on all orders with no minimum required or distance charge.
The company expect to hire 150 people in the area.
Athens is the fifth Waitr city in the state. The compnay started in Columbus in February and expanded into Agusta, Macon, and Savannah. According to a company release, dozens of Athens restaurants have already signed on with Waitr.
In addition to Georgia, the company is also operating throughout the south, including Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Arkansas and Texas.
The company will be hosting a launch party, Wednesday, June 20, at Mellow Mushroom at 8:00pm, to celebrate its Athens’ launch.
