Natrez Patrick's Marijuana Misdemeanor Has Been Dismissed

Charges of marijuana possession by UGA football player, Natrez Patrick, were dismissed on Thursday morning.

Just a few hours after winning the SEC Championship game on December 2nd, two UGA football players, Jayson Stanley and Natrez Patrick, were pulled over by a Barrow County sheriff’s deputy. Both players were charged with a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana.

This charge would have been Patrick’s third marijuana-related charge. UGA athletic policy states that players must be dismissed after their third drug charge.

Online Athens is reporting that the charge was dropped against Patrick because he was a passenger in the car, and Stanley said both in court and on dashcam video footage that the marijuana was his.

Stanley pled guilty to a marijuana possession charge and speeding, but the DUI drug charge was dropped. He will likely face a one-game suspension per UGA policy.

UGA has not yet commented on the status of Patrick for the January 1st Rose Bowl game against Oklahoma.

Patrick started seven games for UGA during the football season.
