A 7-foot Menorah will be lit outside Athens-Clarke County City Hall on Tuesday.
Tuesday marks the start of Hanukkah for the Jewish Community here in Athens.
To celebrate the first day of the eight-day festival of lights, Chabad of Athens will have a public Menorah lighting ceremony. The 7-foot Menorah will be lit outside of City Hall on College Avenue at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The event will also include music, latkes and donuts, and crafts for kids.
This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the first public observations of Jewish holidays.
