Memorial Service To Be Held Tomorrow for Members of UGA Community Who Have Passed Away in Last Year

UGA students, faculty and staff members who have died in the past year will be honored in a candlelight memorial service tomorrow.

24 members of the UGA community have passed away since last April. They’re going to be honored in a candlelight ceremony on the steps of the UGA Chapel Thursday night at 7 p.m.

The names of each of the nine students, and 15 faculty and staff members will be read out loud. Then the Chapel Bell will toll and a candle for each will be lit.

UGA President Jere Morehead will lead the service and campus ministers will deliver prayers, while members of a Hugh Hodson string quartet will provide music.

The University holds a candlelight service every year for those who have died.
