Jackson County Cutting Number of Polling Places

jacksoncountygov.com

The Jackson County Board of Elections has voted to consolidate the county’s current 16 voting precincts down to four. A news release from Jackson County’s Public Information Officer Sloan Meyer states the increase in early voting has brought about the change. It states most voters cast their ballots before Election Day, which decreases the need for so many polling places.

The new polling locations will be located at Northeast Church, Hope Crossing Church, Southside Church, and Mt. Olive Baptist Church. The Board expects to save a significant amount of money by the consolidation. It is purchasing the Easy Vote Program to help speed up the process for early and absentee voting. The board believes this will help to decrease lines as more voters continue to take advantage of the three weeks of early voting before each election.

Residents can submit questions or concerns in writing to the Jackson Board of Elections at: Jackson County Board of Elections and Voter Registration 441 Gordon Street, Jefferson, GA 30549 by September 15, 2017.
