Georgia.gov

Governor Nathan Deal is in Europe this week on an economic development trip for the state.

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports that Governor Deal left for Paris on Saturday, and will travel to northern Italy on Tuesday. He will be meeting with businesses that already have operations or relations with Georgia.

The state exported $530 million of goods to Italy and imported about $1.7 billion worth of Italian goods in 2016. And there are 66 Italian firms that currently operate in Georgia.

This is not the only out-of country economic trip Governor Deal has embarked on. He has also traveled to Brazil, Canada, China, Israel, Japan, Korea and Panama during his two terms.

The AJC reports that the cost estimate for the trip to France and Italy was not immediately available.
