Georgia is once again making the list of the worst, this time it’s when it comes to Health Care, according to the personal finance website WalletHub. Analysts all 50 states plus the District of Columbia in 35 measures of health care cost, accessibility, and outcome. Analyst Jill Gonzalez says they used a wide-ranging data set to determine the rankings. That includes emergency room wait times, the number of hospital beds per capita, and the number of physicians and nurse practitioners in the state.
“Unfortunately Georgia did not do too well across the board,” according to Gonzalez.
It’s part of the company’s effort to determine where Americans receive the high-quality services at the best prices 50 states. Gonzalez says number 46 Georgia has few bright spots.
“The only bright spot here really comes back to cost, so it has a lower doctor office visit than most other places in the country, around $99, but that really does affect quality. There is no best of both worlds here of low cost and high quality.”
Other data include the number of hospital beds per capita, physicians per capita, and the number of adults with no dental visit in the past year. Hawaii was ranked number on the list, followed closely by Iowa and Minnesota. The bottom three were Alaska, Mississippi and Louisiana, which was dead last on the list at number 51.
