GDOL to Hold Job Workshops in Athens for Former Prisoners

Georgia Department of Labor

The Georgia Department of Labor will host two job search workshops in Athens next month.  It’s part of the agency’s efforts to help people move successfully from prison or probation into the workforce. The workshops for returning citizens in Athens take place Friday, September 8, from 10-11:30 am at the career center. A second will take place at the same time and location on Friday, September 22.

The workshops focus on a federal program which helps with tax credits as incentives to hire those returning and others who have difficulty finding jobs, such as supplemental nutritionist assistance program (SNAP) recipients, veterans with dishonorable discharges and others with poor credit or work history. The workshops are part of the Offender Parolee Probationer State Training Employment Program or TOPPSTEP.
