GBI Seeks Help in Identifying Remains

The GBI is seeking help in identifying human remains found near Interstate 85 in Banks County.  According to an agency release, a skeleton was discovered in a wooded area near new Salem Methodist Church in Commerce. A forensic anthropological exam estimates the remains to be of an African American/Hispanic female, approximately 30 to 44 years old, and between 4’9” and 5’6” in height.

The remains were discovered in February of this year, the time of death is estimated to be up to four years before the body was found. A metal ring and a butterfly necklace charm were found among the remains, as were blue, purple, and gray colored fabrics.
