GasBuddy Analysts Warn of Gas Price Differences

Analysts at Gas Buddy are warning Georgia drivers and others to avoid getting trapped on the wrong side of a state border when it comes to gas prices as they hit the road this summer season. The smartphone app connects nearly 70 million drivers and identifies state borders with the most drastic gas price variance.

According to Gas Buddy’s 2017 Summer Travel Survey, a record number of people are traveling more than 500 miles during their road trips, resulting many crossing state borders. The price spread differed by as much as 44 cents in some areas, or $10 per tank. In extreme cases, drivers could spend an extra $25 when refueling on the wrong side of the line. The average gas price in Georgia is $2.17, compared to $2.27 in Florida, and $1.99 in South Carolina, $2.05 in Tennessee and $2.13 in North Carolina.
