Flu Hospitalizations are Finally Down in Georgia

NPR

It finally looks like the flu season may be winding down in the state, according to Georgia Department of Public Health officials.

The latest data available shows that hospitalizations in the Atlanta metro area were down to 91 during the second week of February. The week before hospitalizations were at 165.

So far, 98 people have died from the flu in Georgia, including four children.

At a press conference last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that it seems national trends are also showing a drop in the number of people with the flu. 97 children have died from the flu across the U.S. this season.

Though CDC experts said the peak of season is behind us, they also stated it is likely the flu will continue to circulate through April.
