One thousand full-time jobs are coming to Jefferson. Online retailer Amazon is now hiring for the warehouse associates positions at its new fulfillment center.
The Jackson County Chamber of commerce says company representatives will attend several job fairs to speak with interested applicants. The first will be held Monday June 5 and Tuesday, June 6 from 9 am until 4 pm. One takes place at the Georgia Department of Labor’s Athens Career Center and the other at the department’s career center in Gainesville. A second round of jobs fairs is also planned for June 12 and 13 at both locations.
Those interested must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma.
Associates at the 850,000-square foot facility will pick, pack and ship large customer items such as furniture, sporting equipment and gardening tools.
