Cine is continuing the celebration of its 30th Anniversary with a day of events on Saturday October 21st. The Wilson Center is bringing Athens native and Hollywood writer and director James Ponsoldt to town.

He will present screenings of “The Spectacular Now”, which he directed and shot in Athens, and “The Last Picture Show.”

“Growing up in Athens, I felt really lucky, in retrospect, to grow up in a community that’s so supportive of the arts and creating a community that supports the life of an artist,” Ponsoldt said.

Cine will host a public reception at 5 pm; followed by a conversation with Ponsoldt at 5:30. The screening of “The Last Picture Show” is at 3 pm and “The Spectacular Now” is at 7:15, all events are free and open to the public.
