Athens Tool Library in Need of Donations

Berkeley Public Library

A collaboration between two Athens organizations is working to create a new source of assistance for the community.

The Athens Regional Library are LEAD Athens are working together to create the ACC Tool Library. The goal of the effort is to provide members of the community with tools they need, that they might not otherwise be able to afford or have access to. Project Director Mike Hodges says more donations are needed for the library.

“We’re accepting donations from anyone and everyone through our GoFundMe page,” Hodges said. “If you go to GoFundMe and type in Athens-Clarke County Tool Library, you’ll find our page and it gives you some more information and we accept any all donations. Even $5 will go a long way toward helping us get this initial round of tools that we can start this project with.”

Hodges says basic tools will be available, but they also want to offer items including air compressors, large extension ladders and other big-ticket items.

The crowdfunding campaign will run until March 2nd and the Tool Library is schedule to open in April.
