Athens Poor People's Campaign Sibling Rally

Poor People's Campaign

Athens is joining cities around the nation this weekend in rallies to fight poverty. Organizers of the Athens Poor People's Campaign Sibling Rally invite members of the community to join them in their fight against systemic racism, systemic poverty, ecological devastation, and other issues cited by the group. According to Envision Athens, Athens has a 37 percent poverty rate.

The rally is Saturday from 10 am until 11:30 am at the UGA Arch. The Athens rally is organized by the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement.  Those attending are asked to register at the Athens Poor People's Campaign Facebook page. Organizers of the national rally in Washington D.C. say it’s a national Call for Moral Revival.
