Authorities say two masked gunmen robbed the Oconee Street Waffle House shortly after 2:00 o’ clock this morning. According to a news release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, witnesses, which included customers and employees told responding officers that the pair entered the store and the suspect with the handgun ordered everyone to the floor. The suspects then stole cellphones and purses from the customers and took money from the cash register.
The suspect with the weapon was described as wearing a black ski mask, black shirt, camouflage shorts and white shoes. The second suspect was described as wearing a black ski mask, black t-shirt, black pants, and black tennis shoes. The department’s forensic unit was called to the scene to process evidence. The investigation is continuing.
