Antebellum Architecture in Georgia Program at Athens-Clarke County Library

James W. Lineberger will present on Greek Revival Architecture in Athens 3 p.m. Sunday at the Athens-Clarke County Library’s Appleton Auditorium.

The presentation will include a historical survey of the Greek Revival Architecture in Athens, which features the 18 prominent built environments in this category. Lineberger will also provide in-depth descriptions of 10 of the buildings and background information on the history of their occupants.

Lineberger is the author of “Architecture in Athens: Then and Now.” He also teaches a course about Greek Revival Architecture at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

Greek Revival Architecture spread throughout Europe and the United States in the 19th Century. It includes structures built with columns, cover porches and gabled roofs.
