Annual Athens in Harmony Concert Aims to Inspire Unity Across Racial Boundaries

The Foundry is hosting the third annual Athens in Harmony concert this Sunday, January 14th.

The lineup includes a unique collaboration of the city’s gospel, soul, reggae, blues singers, Hip-Hop artists, and rock musicians.

The Athens in Harmony concert is aimed at showing the community’s concern for the rights and safety of blacks and other minorities as well as the safety of the police force.

Producer Pat Priest tells us what we can expect.

"We have whites and blacks paired across that color line to create music," said Priest.

Hip-Hop artist Squalle performed with rocker Chris McKay at a previous concert.

"Being paired with somebody like Chris through music which to me, is the connection between all people," said Squalle. "For two different people of two different colors to agree, it was I mean, one of the best moments of my life."

ACC Police Chief Scott Freeman and Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement co-founder Mokah Johnson are teaming up to emcee the event. Find more information on the concert here.
