The Athens-Clarke County government is changing its domain name for the county’s official website and email address. As of Tuesday, February 13, the address will change from www.athensclarkecounty.com to www.accgov.com.
According to the ACC public information office says the new, user-friendly domain name was chosen due to length, ease of communication and website flexibility among other benefits. The 10 character accgov.com is less than half as long as the current address. The current web address will continue to work by redirecting users to the new address until the domain name is phased out.
In 2017, website traffic for the site included 1.9 million visitors, 4.1 million pageviews, and 960,000 downloads.
