ACC Police Searching for Man Who Allegedly Assaulted Wife, Investigating Shooting Death

  Athens Police are also looking for a suspect wanted in connection with an aggravated battery. According to a media release from department spokesperson Epifanio Rodriguez, officers were dispatched to a residence on McKinnley Drive. When they arrived they found a woman who was the victim of a domestic violence incident which left her face unrecognizable. The victim sustained several facial fractures. The suspect is 45-year old Demarkous Martin. Police say he left the scene before officers arrived. He was three felony warrants of Aggravated battery, Aggravated Assault, and False Imprisonment. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact either the ACCPC or the Clarke County Sheriff Office.

 

The ACCPD is investigating a shooting death on Scandia Circle. Police arrived on the scene to find 23-year old Sheldon Ellis with a single gunshot wound to the face. He was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.  A media releases states 31-year old Quinton Neal came home to find Ellis sitting on the steps leading to his apartment. Police say a verbal argument between the Ellis and Neal escalated into a physical confrontation which moved inside Neal’s apartment. Once inside, Neal got away from Ellis, retrieve his gun and fired a single shot at Ellis, striking him in the face. No arrests have been made at this time. Police say Ellis had been involved in past incidents with Neal. Ellis’ body has been sent to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy.
