Red Cross Month

06 March 2017

March is Red Cross Month, and the organization is reaching out to community for support. The American Red Cross is asking all eligible blood donors to observe Red Cross Month by giving blood this March.

The organization has several blood drives planned in Athens and the rest of the state in the coming weeks. Kristen Stancil is Communications Director with the agency. She says there many ways those interested can help.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to learn new things about the Red Cross, or maybe just familiarize themselves with some of the things that we do and some of the ways that that can support us,” Stancil said. “So it’s a great time to volunteer, learn life-saving skills, donate blood or platelets, or make a financial contribution.”

March has been recognized as Red Cross Month by every U.S. president since 1943.
