Authorities Identify Man Ejected in Wreck During Pursuit

18 March 2014

The man, identified as 36-year-old Anthony Taylor, was ejected from his black Ford Explorer on Sunday. Georgia State Patrol identified him after he led troopers on a chase that ended with a rollover wreck on Highway 29 near Hull Road in Athens.

Taylor was allegedly fleeing from Madison County deputies when they attempted to stop him on active warrants for previous incidents involving the stalking of an ex-girlfriend. He crossed into Clarke County around 3:15 p.m. where the Athens-Clarke County police assisted the Georgia State Patrol in the chase.

“Our units attempted to perform a rolling roadblock maneuver on him and at that time he went across into the northbound lane and into oncoming traffic,” Meyer said in a Sunday interview.

Taylor was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center where he remained at the hospital Monday afternoon in fair condition.
